Each February we celebrate and honor the history and contributions of Black Americans. This allows us to highlight the achievements, struggles, perspectives, and experiences of Black Americans throughout 400 years of American History. Additionally, Holocaust Remembrance Week is January 22–26, 2024.

Pre-K Friday Funday stations in P.E.
It's so awesome to see how Coach Wolf incorporates learning in her P.E. classes and the students love every minute of it.

H.O.W. January Teacher of the Month, Ms. Mandy Smith! Ms. Smith is a dedicated and passionate 2nd grade teacher and we are so lucky to have her! Way to go Ms. Smith!
GISD will be on "Regular Schedule" for Wednesday, Jan. 17th. This was determined after reviewing road conditions, school infrastructure, and conditions of our buses.
Please allow extra travel time in the morning, as temperatures remain below freezing.

Due to unsafe travel on many of our back roads, GISD will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 16th. All school events for Tuesday, including practices and games are also cancelled/postponed.
We will continue to monitor road conditions Tuesday to determine Wednesday's schedule.

Learning about moon phases today was an extra special, yummy lesson!
Science at H.O.W. is fun and exciting! We are incubating chicken eggs and cannot wait to see them hatch! The students are observing, watching for changes and making predictions.
