Groesbeck ISD’s 2022-2023 Accountability Rating Released

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released the 2022–2023 school accountability ratings today, Thursday, April 24, 2025. Groesbeck ISD received a ‘C’ rating under this system, which reflects data that is now two years old.

These ratings were delayed due to a legal challenge brought by more than 100 school districts across Texas. The challenge stemmed from TEA’s decision to revise the rating methodology without providing sufficient notice or clear guidance to districts regarding how scores would be calculated.

Since A–F ratings have not been issued since 2019, and despite widespread opposition from school districts across the state concerning the new rating criteria, the courts ultimately allowed the release of the 2022–2023 ratings.

Under the previous accountability model, larger campuses had a greater impact on a district’s overall score. However, the revised system assigns equal weight to all campuses, regardless of size. This change has led to some campuses receiving lower ratings, which in turn has affected the district’s overall score.

It’s important to note that this rating does not reflect a lack of dedication or progress within our schools. Rather, it is a result of the new evaluation structure. While this single letter grade does not capture the full picture of our students' growth and achievements, Groesbeck ISD remains committed to providing a high-quality education and will continue striving for academic excellence.
